Michelle Looby serves as attorney at Gustafson Gluek PLLC, where she has specialized in antitrust class action litigation since joining the firm in 2008. She has achieved significant victories in the antitrust field, often dominated by men, helping recover hundreds of millions of dollars in settlements for injured plaintiffs across multiple high-profile cases.

In 2015, Looby received the Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement award from the American Antitrust Institute for her work on a global price-fixing case that recovered more than $450 million for the class. She has been extensively involved in pharmaceutical antitrust cases challenging companies that suppress competition by keeping generic drugs off the market, including cases involving Copaxone, Opana ER, and Asacol. She currently represents direct purchaser plaintiffs in a case against more than twenty generic drug manufacturers involving over 100 generic drugs for common conditions including diabetes and high blood pressure.

As co-lead counsel in Precision Associates, Inc. v. Panalpina World Transport, Looby helped secure over $450 million for a class of direct purchasers of freight forwarding services in an international conspiracy case involving 68 defendants. She contributed to obtaining $100 million in settlements for commercial indirect purchasers in the Broiler Chicken Antitrust Litigation and led the Gustafson Gluek team in the Cattle and Beef Antitrust Litigation as co-lead counsel.

In 2022, Looby received recognition from both the American Antitrust Institute and Minnesota Lawyer for her work on Moultrie v. National Women’s Soccer League, successfully obtaining relief for soccer player Olivia Moultrie while advancing antitrust law application to workers’ rights and equity issues.

Currently serving as co-chair of Gustafson Gluek’s Antitrust Division, Looby co-founded and chairs the Antitrust Committee of the Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. She serves on the editorial board of the American Bar Association Antitrust Magazine and previously served on Law360’s Competition Editorial Advisory Board. She holds leadership positions with the Advisory Board of the American Antitrust Institute, served as past chair of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Antitrust Council, and participates on the executive committee of the Committee to Support the Antitrust Laws.
