Amy DuMond Kottke is a partner at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP where she serves as co-partner in charge of the Minneapolis office, overseeing more than 20 attorneys and paralegals. With three decades of experience, DuMond Kottke specializes in real estate law, representing owners, developers, and lenders on financing, development, acquisitions, sales, mergers, commercial leasing, and construction matters nationwide.

DuMond Kottke advises companies on complex financing and loan products involving municipal entitlements, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Section 8, and HUD-insured loans. She represents both landlords and tenants in leasing agreements for commercial, industrial, and office space throughout Minnesota and beyond.

In the past year, DuMond Kottke has played a significant role in major Minneapolis developments, leading attorney teams on two high-profile office-to-multifamily apartment conversion projects that have impacted the Twin Cities housing market. She represented Sherman Associates in the Groove Lofts project, a widely-publicized conversion of the former Northstar Center East building into 216 apartments that opened in December 2024. The landmark building, which is the birthplace of the Minneapolis skyway system, provides mixed-income housing options for downtown Minneapolis residents and connects to Capella Tower, Rand Tower, Wells Fargo Center, and Baker Center.

DuMond Kottke also represented Sherman Associates in the Landmark Towers project, which opened in April 2025 after converting 211,000 square feet of vacant commercial and office space into 187 market-rate apartments. These conversion projects have contributed to addressing housing needs in downtown Minneapolis while revitalizing underutilized commercial properties.

Beyond Minneapolis, DuMond Kottke represents senior housing cooperatives across multiple states including Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Montana, North Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming, advising on acquisition, corporate organization, financing, construction, and management of senior cooperative facilities.

As co-partner in charge of the Minneapolis office, DuMond Kottke focuses on continued growth through marketing initiatives and developing new client relationships. She has mentored numerous attorneys on their path to partnership and serves as an active member of the Minnesota Network of Commercial Real Estate Women, where she has served on the Charitable Giving and Board Nomination committees while dedicating time to mentoring young women in the real estate profession.
