Former state legislator Becky Lourey is backing DFL challenger Rick Nolan in the Eighth Congressional District. Lourey spent six years in the House, followed by a decade in the Senate. She ran for governor in 2006, but lost to former Attorney General Mike Hatch in the DFL primary.

Duluth City Council member announces CD 8 challenge

Jeff Anderson, who is serving his second term on the Duluth City Council, is officially challenging GOP-incumbent Chip Cravaack in the Eighth Congressional District. Anderson had been publicly mulling a congressional bid for months in what's anticipated to be one of the top 2012 takeover targets for Democrats in the country.
