The Wisconsin Supreme Court has declined to hear Steven Avery’s latest appeal.

In February, Avery’s attorneys asked the court to review an appellate court’s decision to not grant him an evidentiary hearing.

Avery is serving a life sentence with no possibility of parole for the 2005 murder of , a 25-year-old woman from Calumet County. He has made numerous appeal efforts through the years, all of which have been denied.

In his latest appeal effort, Avery sought a new evidentiary hearing, alleging another man killed Halbach, framed Avery by leaving the key to her vehicle in his bathroom and then was a key witness against him at trial.

This was Avery’s fourth post-conviction attempt.

In March, Avery wrote a six-page letter to the Supreme Court asking for a motion of miscellaneous relief. He wrote the letter without the knowledge of his attorney and the court dismissed from its court record.
