Up & Coming: Jennifer Olson

In her eight years as an attorney, Jennifer Olson has flourished handling trial work and arbitrations involving complex business and commercial litigation.

Whether representing companies and individuals in class actions, shareholder disputes, employment claims, business torts or contract disputes, Olson considers her work a public service.

“I had always wanted to [be a lawyer],’’ said Olson.  “I wanted to be a problem solver.”

One of Olson’s notable cases occurred in 2014 when she defended a restaurant in a disability discrimination case brought by one of its servers. In that matter, she won total victory for her client after a four-day bench trial in Hennepin County District Court.

Olson has also achieved other litigation victories for her clients. One example: In 2016, “she won a motion to dismiss fraudulent transfer claims that were reportedly worth millions,” said Jennifer Ives, a Minneapolis attorney who nominated Olson as an Up and Coming Attorney. “She exemplifies the best in our field.”

Besides her regular practice, Olson volunteers with Advocates for Human Rights, where her pro bono work has included helping a Guatemalan teenager in 2016 gain his green card for immigration purposes — first helping the client win special-immigrant juvenile status in his quest for political asylum to the United States.
