Appellant sought reversal of his conviction, arguing that the state failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that his false statements were material. The Court of Appeals held that a false statement is “material,” within the meaning of Minn. Stat. sec. 609.48, subd. 1, if the statement has a natural tendency to influence, or is capable of influencing, the decision of the decision-making body to which it is made. Affirmed.
