Independence Party gubernatorial candidate Rob Hahn is the “$6 billion man,” or at least that’s the message his new campaign ad is trying to get across.
The ad, which Hahn announced will be airing on cable tv, is a low-budget production narrated by his son Bobby. The spot is based on the 1970s Six-Million Dollar Man television show, saying Hahn is a “$6 billion man with a $6 billion solution,” referring to the state’s projected budget deficit for the upcoming fiscal year.
The ad claims that Hahn is the only “real independent” running for governor. Hahn is challenging public relations executive and IP-endorsed candidate Tom Horner in the Aug. 10 primary.
Horner told the Post-Bulletin’s Heather Carlson that he is worried Republicans may cross over to vote for Hahn in the primary. Horner also questioned where Hahn got the money for a TV spot, as he was in debt at the end of the last campaign finance reporting period.
Hahn issued a statement about the ad, but did not disclose how much it cost his campaign.
