Jeff Keyes appointed as U.S. Magistrate Judge

Jeffrey J. Keyes has been appointed to the position of U.S. Magistrate Judge for the District of Minnesota. He will fill the position created by the Judicial Conference of the U.S. Courts.

Keyes, 61, was born in New York City. He received his B.A. magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame, and his law degree cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School.

Keyes has more than 35 years of experience as a civil trial lawyer, focusing on antitrust law, dealership and franchising law, and civil rights and civil liberties law. He’s been a shareholder at Briggs and Morgan, P.A. since 1986. Before that, he was a partner with Gray Plant Mooty Mooty & Bennett.

Keyes will take the oath of office in the U.S. Courthouse in Minneapolis today. He will temporarily maintain judicial chambers in Minneapolis until the renovation project of the Warren E. Burger Courthouse is complete this fall. He will then maintain chambers in St. Paul.
