Dayton taps Michael Browne for Hennepin County bench

Gov. Mark Dayton has picked Michael K. Browne, currently the director of Minneapolis’ Office of Police Conduct Review, for a vacancy on the bench in the Fourth Judicial District.

Browne, who replaces retired Hennepin County District Court Judge Phillip Bush, has a resume long on governmental and non-profit work, including stints as assistant director of the Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights, legal affairs manager at the Minnesota Department of Human Rights, and staff attorney at Centro Legal, Inc.

A native of Rochester native, Brown earned his B.A. from the University of Minnesota and his J.D. from Hamline University School of Law.

Browne is an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas, School of Law, has held several leadership positions with Toastmasters International-District 6, and is the former Chair of the Jordan Area Community Council.
