Appeals Court Judges Margaret Chutich and Natalie Hudson as well as Minneapolis City Attorney Susan Segal have been listed as recommended candidates by the Commission on Judicial Selection

A bipartisan effort led by the Coalition for Impartial Justice is proposing a system of judicial review and retention elections to avoid the highly charged, politically explosive contests common in Wisconsin, Texas and other states.

Former House Speaker Phil Carruthers is among six lawyers who have been recommended by the Commission on Judicial Selection to serve on Minnesota's Fourth Judicial District bench that covers Hennepin County. There are three vacant judgeships.
