Joseph T. Dixon III, shareholder at Fredrikson & Byron, focuses on complex litigation, white collar and regulatory defense, False Claims Act defense, and internal investigations.
Dixon has tried more than two dozen matters to jury verdicts and argued more than 30 cases before appellate courts, including the Minnesota Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
Before joining Fredrikson, Dixon served as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota, where he led the prosecution of U.S. v. Thomas Joseph Petters, a multibillion-dollar corporate fraud case involving the owner of Polaroid Corp. and Sun Country Airlines that resulted in convictions on all counts and a 50-year sentence. He later served as deputy general counsel for UnitedHealth Group, managing significant internal investigations and responding to government inquiries.
Dixon also co-led a high-profile 2015 investigation of the University of Minnesota Athletics Department on behalf of the university.
