Joseph Thompson and Harry Jacobs, who resigned from positions in the Minnesota U.S. Attorney’s Office in the aftermath of Renee Good’s killing by an ICE agent last month in Minneapolis, have formed boutique law firm.
The launch of Thompson Jacobs PLLC was announced Feb. 9 in a news release. Thompson, who was assistant U.S. attorney before resigning, and Jacobs have extensive experience as federal prosecutors. They have led complex criminal investigations and tried cases involving fraud, public corruption, and financial crimes. Building on that, Thompson Jacobs PLLC will represent individuals and companies that are dealing with government scrutiny or complex civil disputes.
“Our clients benefit from our deep understanding of how investigations are initiated, developed, and resolved,” said Thompson. “That insight allows us to anticipate risks early, shape effective strategies, and help clients navigate some of the most challenging moments they may ever face. We are also well position to provide strategic advice to companies navigating an increasingly uncertain regulatory landscape.”
The firm will focus on complex commercial litigaiton, internal investigations, and waste and fraud monitoring, and white collar criminal defense. The firm will represent businesses, executives, and professionals at every stage, from investigations and responses to grand jury subpoenas to enforcement actions and trial. It will also conduct internal investigations for companies and boards.
“Our goal is to offer the level of sophistication and credibility clients expect from a large firm, with the focus, agility, and personal attention of a boutique,” Jacobs. “Clients increasingly want senior-level attention and practical judgment informed by real experience inside the Department of Justice. Our approach is hands-on, discreet, and relentlessly focused on protecting our clients’ interests.”
