U.S. Senate race looks to be a high-dollar affair

The modern Congress is often faulted for its inability to actually accomplish much. Even still, the members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives are as good as ever in at least on area: Raising money toward their own re-election. In keeping with that trend, third-quarter Federal Elections Commission (FEC) reports find Minnesota’s delegation is pretty good at collecting checks, with at least one notable — if predictable — exception.

NRCC targets Peterson in new TV ad

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) will start airing a 30-second television spot in the Twin Cities and Moorhead on Tuesday. In the ad, Pinsburg farmer Eric Wieberdink says Peterson's support for cap-and-trade puts farmers at risk.

DFL Congressman-elect Rick Nolan adds senior staffers

Former Duluth City Council president Jeff Anderson, who ran against Nolan this summer in a DFL primary election, will serve as Nolan's district director. Anderson became a supporter of Nolan after the primary. He will now oversee Nolan's Minnesota congressional offices across the northeastern district, including planned offices in Duluth and Brainerd.
