In six key 2012 presidential primary states, Gov. Tim Pawlenty trails well behind his potential GOP rivals, according to new polling conducted by Public Policy Polling. In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania, Pawlenty's support registers in single digits.

While it's still a long way before the 2012 presidential race, polls show potential presidential candidate Gov. Tim Pawlenty is still trailing well behind candidates like Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney.

On the last Saturday in June, Gov. Tim Pawlenty addressed a crowd of nearly 1,500 Republican activists and donors gathered at the Nashville Convention Center. The annual Statesmen’s Dinner is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Tennessee Republican Party, with a minimum contribution of $250 required to gain entry.

Gov. Tim Pawlenty's constant travels across the country don't seem to be bolstering his presidential prospects with the general public. The latest national CNN poll (pdf) found that just 2 percent of Republicans selected Pawlenty as their top choice to be the party's nominee in 2012.
