Clark Johnson wins DFL special primary in House District 19A

Clark Johnson, a professor at Minnesota State University in Mankato, won the House District 19A primary race with about 66 percent of the vote, or 241 total votes. Farmer Karl Johnson came in second place with 26 percent of the vote, while St. Peter Mayor Tim Strand and educator Robin Courrier each garnered about 5 percent of the vote or less.

PPP: Support, opposition even on gay marriage ban in new poll

Minnesotans are split down the middle on the constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, according to a new survey from Public Policy Polling. The poll finds 48 percent support for the amendment and 47 percent opposition. A majority vote is required for passage, suggesting that amendment supporters may need to convince some of the 5 percent of likely voters who declared themselves "Not sure."
