Rep. Joe Mullery doesn’t want to talk about judicial elections. That’s abundantly obvious. And the House Civil Justice Committee chair's lack of enthusiasm for engaging the issue has left in limbo the fate of a proposal to significantly overhaul Minnesota’s judicial-election system. The bill currently pending before Mullery's committee would require voters to decide in November whether they want to amend the state Constitution to adopt a retention-election system for judicial contests.
