League of Women Voters seeks more open forums

Social media has been a wild card in presidential politics since at least 2003, when liberal, tech-savvy activists used blogs and early social networks to lift from obscurity Gov. Howard Dean’s anti-war challenge to front-runner Sen. John Kerry.

Independence Party candidate Tom Horner's campaign is getting traction in the final weeks before the general election. He made major gains in the recent KSTP/SurveyUSA poll, and has been hauling in the cash much faster than in the early months of his campaign. His performance at the Bring Me the News debate at the Pantages Wednesday night was also the buzz of the after party.

The event will put DFL nominee Mark Dayton, GOP nominee Tom Emmer and Independent nominee Tom Horner onstage for a 'unique conversation-style debate' at the Pantages Theater on Sept. 15.
