The 8th Circuit Court of Appeals granted an injunction on Thursday halting implementation of a state law authorizing roughly 12,000 childcare providers that receive state subsidies to seek union representation.

The bill, headed for Gov. Mark Dayton's desk, would limit the use of taxpayer dollars to pay to childcare union dues.

Opponents of a proposed unionization of certain in-home childcare providers will take their case to federal court alongside a challenge in Ramsey County.

Not one of three available options would make any great strides in getting the election -- which was supposed to start on Wednesday -- back on track anytime soon.
