No matter who wins the DFL primary contest in House District 65A, history will almost certainly be made. The victor – either Jeremiah Ellis or Rena Moran — will stand poised to become the first African American ever to represent St. Paul in the Legislature.

The Republican Party of Minnesota is reportedly on a "witch hunt" in an effort to oust GOP state Sen. Paul Koering of Fort Ripley from the Legislature.

With the Aug. 10 primary only weeks away and the general election campaign season about to kick off in full, the Minnesota House and Senate caucuses have been putting their election point people to work to support endorsed candidates.

Embattled state Sen. Satveer Chaudhary's fortunes took another turn for the worse with a report this morning uncovering a massive unpaid tax bill. Chaudhary said he's worked out an agreement with the IRS to pay the taxes.

Former state Rep. Barb Goodwin said during an Almanac interview she won't campaign in the Senate District 50 DFL primary if the incumbent Sen. Satveer Chaudhary holds on to his endorsement. SD 50 DFLers will meet Monday to consider revoking Chaudhary's endorsement over a controversy in which the three-term senator had special fishing regulations inserted into legislation that apply to a lake where he owns a cabin.
