Biography
As an experienced employee rights advocate, Beth Bertelson understands that a job is more than just a paycheck. She has spent over 30 years representing clients that have experienced physical, emotional, and financial conflicts in the workplace. Beth litigates discrimination, retaliation, and harassment issues as well as reviews and negotiates severance agreements and executive contracts. She is also a MSBA Certified Employment Law Specialist. Beth mediates and investigates employment disputes and has been designated as a qualified neutral under Rule 114 of the Minnesota General Rules of Practice for the District Courts. Beth has received honors including, but not limited to: SuperLawyers for 15 years, Top 50 Women and U.S. News Best Lawyers.
A 1984 graduate of St. Olaf College, where she received a Bachelor of Arts, Ms. Bertelson then attended William Mitchell College of Law and was awarded her Juris Doctor in 1987. Admitted to practice in Minnesota, she is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. Highly regarded by her peers, Ms. Bertelson has received a 10.0 “Superb” rating from Avvo.
Ms. Bertelson stays abreast of current developments in her field through her active participation in the Minnesota State and Hennepin County bar associations, the National Employment Lawyers Association. She has written several articles on employment matters and is frequently asked to speak before groups of fellow professionals. Active in her community, Ms. Bertelson has served on the boards of Youthworks and the Linden Hills Neighborhood Council, and has provided pro bono services to the Minnesota Department of Human Rights. She has also served as a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association Employment Labor Section, Vice President for the Minnesota division of the National Employment Lawyers Association and has been a board member for several non-profit organizations.
Beth is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, the Hennepin County Bar Association, the Eighth Circuit Bar Association and the National Employment Lawyers Association.
When not practicing law, Beth spends time with her family, mountain and road bikes, cross county and downhill skis and plays hockey.
