Gail Kulick was appointed Commissioner of Corporate Affairs for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe. As commissioner, she serves as the chief executive officer and chair of the board of directors for the Mille Lacs Band’s Corporate Commission, which analyzes new business opportunities and oversees the Band’s existing businesses, including Grand Casino Mille Lacs, Grand Casino Hinckley, and numerous small businesses.

High court to review tobacco ruling

The Minnesota Supreme Court granted a petition for certiorari in a class action case based on consumer fraud in the marketing of light cigarettes. In Curtis, et al. v. Altria Group, Inc., et al., the Court of Appeals had allowed the case to go forward, saying it was properly brought under the private attorney general statute because by addressing alleged misrepresentations made to the public at large, it confers a public benefit.
