Senate passes amended bonding bill

The fractious Minnesota Senate passed the bill 45-22 in an awkward session that saw more than half the Republican majority caucus vote against it. The bill garnered the votes of 27 DFL senators, but only 18 of the 37 members of the GOP majority.

House passes bonding bill with unanimous DFL support

DFLers on Monday afternoon put up a united front in pushing the 2012 bonding bill through the Minnesota House on a 99-32 vote. All 60 of the chamber's DFL votes were cast in favor of the bill, ensuring its easy passage despite the majority Republican caucus' narrow (39-32) support for the package. The bill was expected to be taken up in the Senate later Monday.

Legislature sends tax bill to Dayton

The Legislature has sent its omnibus tax bill to Gov. Mark Dayton who is likely to veto the measure. The bill, sponsored by Taxes Chair Julianne Ortman, R-Chanhassan, passed 41-25 with all Republicans and four suburban DFLers voting in favor.

Tax conferees reach deal on omnibus bill

The tax bill is now alive and in play. House and Senate conferees approved the bill on Saturday night that provides tax reductions and credits for businesses. It would also open up a roughly $140 million hole in the next two-year general fund budget if Gov. Mark Dayton signs it into law.

Vikings bill passes Taxes committee by a single vote

The Senate Taxes Committee passed the Minnesota Vikings stadium bill 7-6 after an intense hearing that lasted well into Friday evening. The panel removed the racino provision from an earlier committee that was believed to have put the bill in jeopardy. The stadium legislation is now on the floor of both the House and Senate.
