Cassandra Headrick’s career has been partly shaped in the past decade by an impactful fellowship program.
In 2012, Headrick became a fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). “It’s an outstanding professional development program from which I gained a wonderful group of friends and a network of talented attorneys around the country, including here in Minnesota,” she said.
Headrick is executive counsel at Travelers Companies, which she joined in 2014. She was well into her career when she became an LCLD fellow, having been an attorney and partner for 12 years at Dorsey & Whitney. At that firm, she represented clients in complex financing matters and was a practice group co-leader, mentor and diversity partner.
The fellowship program network supported her run of the Chicago Marathon to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities and the New York City Marathon to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Closer to home, she volunteered with the Arthritis Foundation and Twin Cities Diversity in Practice (TCDIP), recently serving on its board.
Within Travelers, Headrick serves on the enterprise-wide Legal Services Diversity and Inclusion Committee. She explains her commitment in simple terms, saying “it’s the right thing for our profession.”
After earning a philosophy degree from the University of Minnesota, she headed for what is now Mitchell Hamline School of Law. After her time at Dorsey, Headrick joined Travelers, where she now manages legal matters for the company’s real estate investments. “I enjoy partnering with clients to help them meet their business objectives,” she said.
