2021 Up & Coming Attorneys: Rachael Stack

Rachael Stack works to offer “on-demand” services to clients — because that’s what she would expect as a client herself.

Stack’s extraordinary responsiveness has been even more critical during the pandemic as the Faegre Drinker senior associate represented a Fortune 50 global logistics company in purchasing drones that deliver medical supplies — including COVID-19 vaccine — to remote areas.

A member of the firm’s construction, infrastructure and commercial contracts practice, Stack also closed a distribution contract that governs a significant portion of food and grocery deliveries throughout the country. She also has negotiated with Tesla, Amazon and other industry leaders that buy automated conveyor systems to help move packages around the world.

“Everything during the pandemic felt urgent,” Stack said. “It was peak season the whole year. Not only did everyone need work done well, they needed it done quickly and efficiently.”

Stack, seen as a future leader in her practice areas, also recently negotiated an engineering contract in connection with a $200 million road and bridge reconstruction project in the southern United States.

Focusing on diversity and inclusion, Stack strives to enhance her team and working group by having at least a third of her projects staffed with people of color and more than half by women.

“Clients want a diverse team,” Stack said. “It brings valuable viewpoints to certain issues.”

In her pro bono service, Stack is helping Advocates for Human Rights update the statewide Sex Trafficking Needs Assessment, analyzing state and federal laws and interviews of participants in Minnesota’s anti-sex trafficking efforts, including survivors, social workers, law enforcement officials and prosecutors. The updated report will be the basis for seeking state resources for victims.

Before and during the pandemic, Stack has helped tenants expunge evictions from their records, providing immediate relief for good tenants to secure stable housing after falling on hard times.
