“I’m very orderly,” she said. “When I was in junior high, I worked in the library. When I discovered that that’s similar to how law is, I thought it would be a good thing to pursue.”
After working at a bank for a brief period, Davis embarked on a career as a legal administrative assistant that now spans more than 35 years, six of which have been at Ciresi Conlin.
In the words of one colleague, she holds the firm’s day-to-day world together. Davis has a diverse administrative litigation assistance background which includes work on complex business litigation and intellectual property litigation.
Davis helps in all phases of Ciresi Conlin’s litigation matters and is a key part of its case teams. Among her duties are finalizing and filing all briefings at the district court and appellate levels for major cases at the firm. She also provides guidance, advice and filing help to other legal administrative assistants at the firm on their own cases.
Also, Davis is not afraid to take on bigger projects in addition to her case duties. For example, she was instrumental in the migration of Ciresi Conlin document and email management software to a cloud-based system, and is also the administrator of that system.
She also oversees the opening and closing of cases in the firm’s databases and oversees the effective administration of the firm and trains our new hires on the firm’s software. Davis also keeps track of all legal administrative assistants’ assignments and maintains the firm policy and procedures manual.
“My job is varied,” Davis said with some understatement. “That’s one reason I like working in litigation.”
