There was only one problem. Both firms relied heavily on paper documents for billing. Zacharias and a team of colleagues digitized the process in just two days, creating guides for employees to use if they did not know how to track changes or edit bills virtually. “It turns out they love the new system and we don’t have to kill a bunch of trees every month,” she said.
Zacharias worked in information technology at a Wisconsin school district and a Twin Cities grocer before she landed at Faegre. She grew to become an expert in legal billing, even though she has no background in finance and accounting.
“The best part of my job is helping people,” she said. “I like information technology because it involves the technical stuff I love and I get to help colleagues in the process.”
She likes Faegre Drinker because of its commitment to community outreach. Zacharias and the LGBT Resource Group collected donations for Avenues for Homeless Youth and the LGBTQ group Reclaim. “I like knowing that I’m helping someone else,” she said.
