As Trana readied for the move in August — when 240 attorneys and staff were to occupy the renovated space — she was also making sure supplies from hand sanitizer to masks were ready for every lobby and desk.
“It has been a huge learning experience for all of us,” Trana said. “But it’s been great having the large enterprise of Taft work together, everybody giving input.”
Trana joined Briggs and Morgan, which merged with Taft in January, about 12 years ago after 23 years with Dorsey & Whitney.
What do you find the most rewarding or love best about working in the legal profession?
You work with a lot of really intelligent people. They ask a lot of questions, good questions that make us think a little bit harder, work a little bit harder and be prepared. I like that. I like being around people, understanding what they do and learning more about the different practices of law.
What’s the best piece of advice that you ever received?
To be calm. You never quite know what will come up. People may be a little agitated or they come in not understanding something. Our job in facilities is to help people with their concerns and questions. The calmer we can remain, the quicker we can fix the situation.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I read quite a bit. I love to go out and take long walks. I re-center myself on the weekends, taking long walks because we’re busy a lot during the week. … I’ve recently taken up fishing. My husband has finally convinced me to do that. That’s very entertaining, I’m sure, mostly for him.
