As an associate for Minneapolis-based Ciresi Conlin LLP, Sacchet was recently appointed by a federal judge in Florida to chair the Law & Briefing Committee and serve on Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee representing thousands of plaintiffs in a case charging 3M with negligently supplying defective ear plugs to the U.S. military.
Such committees are often culled by judges from a list of attorneys from different firms who know one another or have geographic connections. Merit doesn’t always play an important role. “In this particular multidistrict litigation, the court received hundreds of leadership applications from attorneys across the country and conducted oral interviews over a two-day hearing,” Sacchet said.
The Harvard Law School graduate likes these cases because they “level the playing field to enable individuals to hold powerful corporations responsible for their actions.”
When not litigating complex cases, Sacchet enjoys spending time with his wife and 9-month-old daughter. A lifelong practitioner of meditation and yoga, he also attends spiritual retreats and teaches meditation to attorneys and friends.
