“It’s really important to me to have good relationships, to stay positive and to work well with people,” said Manty, who has been doing business development and event planning at Barnes & Thornburg Minneapolis since October 2018.
When people come to an attorney, he says, they want someone they can trust. To find one, they may do a Google search, or, they may go to someone they know for a recommendation, a friend or family member or a colleague.
Manty says he believes that attorneys can build on this by having strong relationships with their clients and with their networks.
And he knows personally how important having positive relationships can be professionally. That’s how he learned of his current job.
He has been active in the Association of Legal Administrators Minnesota since he was administrator at his previous firm, Manty & Associates. In doing ALAMN projects, he had met a person from Barnes and Thornburg who told him about the opening and to apply.
He says she told him it was because she knew him and had worked with him.
Incidentally, he has become more involved in that group this year by joining its board of directors and serving as director of communications. He says he wants to give back and is grateful for the contacts and resources the group provided when he was the only administrator at Manty & Associates.
