2019 Unsung Legal Heroes: Abigail Krueger

As a litigation legal assistant with Merchant & Gould, and a paralegal, Abigail Krueger is considered one of the firm’s go-to resources for an array of tasks, including submitting a court filing, preparing a deposition kit, putting the finishing touches on a litigation docket, or making sure a rush project gets done on time.

In addition to communicating directly with clients and supporting three litigation attorneys, Krueger has developed a network of foreign counsel relationships, enabling her to quickly locate solutions for clients with foreign legal issues.

Often one of the first to arrive at the office, and frequently still there late when a project needs to be completed, Krueger is well- known not just for managing hundreds of details simultaneously, but also for jumping in to help others with complex tasks.

One standout accomplishment has been ramping up her knowledge about trademarks and copyrights, especially counterfeit products. Her desk is usually sporting at least a few packages of online purchases that need comparison testing to make sure clients’ intellectual property isn’t being stolen. That relentless drive to protect clients has resulted in countless counterfeit products being removed from the marketplace.

“When it comes to an area like IP law, there’s a steep learning curve, but that’s part of what I love about it,” she said. “The pace here is also challenging in a positive way. There’s no such thing as a typical day, and you never know what tomorrow will bring, so I enjoy the chance to learn new things and make a contribution.”
