Welcome to the second annual Minnesota Lawyer Diversity & Inclusion Awards. We are celebrating individuals and organizations that have contributed in a meaningful way to improving diversity and inclusion in Minnesota’s legal community. Last year’s event was a celebration of achievement — with a challenge toward continuous improvement. We were reminded that while much has been accomplished, there’s still a lot of heavy lifting in front of us. For our part, we at Minnesota Lawyer will continue to listen and take your input on how we can best serve the legal community. And we’ll find innovative ways to showcase the good work being done in the legal community. Last year we launched a series of breakfast panels dedicated to diversity and inclusion and other topics. Look for that to expand in the coming months.

As we did last year, we worked with members of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Affinity groups to draw nominations, and review and select the recipients of this year’s awards. And once again, we had many impressive nominees from which to choose. To see the dedication, commitment and passion of each honoree is truly humbling. If you attended the Oct. 3 event, you had the opportunity to meet the honorees and hear their stories. If you missed the event, we hope to see you next year. Enjoy reading about the honorees. And if you have thoughts on how we can improve the event, let me know.
