You might say Kevin Zhao is a born learner. He followed up a University of Minnesota degree in political studies and global learning with a law degree from Harvard, graduating magna cum laude in both cases. All that knowledge has been brought to bear at a thriving practice at Greene Espel, where Zhao has been for five years.
Zhao is not content to coast on his academic pedigree, and others have noticed. Texas trial attorney Bob Hilliard recruited Zhao to serve as co-counsel in a high-profile case against Toyota. Zhao became an integral part of Hilliard’s trial team, drafting and arguing motions, prepping witnesses and developing cross-examination strategies and outlines for Toyota’s experts in a case that resulted in an $11 million victory. Zhao also helped protect the verdict on appeal to the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
“I am a big believer in making the most of opportunities that come your way, and those opportunities have led me to complex civil litigation, which I really enjoy,” he said. “What I love most about the practice of law is getting to take the tools I’ve developed to solve different types of problems for different kinds of clients.”
