At the Ramsay Law Firm, Shelley Arndt is the person everyone turns to for help.
Over the course of her more than 15 years with the Roseville criminal-defense firm, Arndt has been instrumental in keeping the firm operating on a day-to-day basis.
The firm’s legal secretary, Arndt performs duties that extend well beyond traditional clerical boundaries. Besides bookkeeping, she serves as the office administrator and handles all administrative aspects of cases — including document requests and scheduling. She’s also the person in charge of training new hires.
Arndt says she has loved bookkeeping ever since she took accounting classes in high school, but considers the human interaction her job entails — with work colleagues and clients alike — to be just as satisfying.
“I love helping people — making sure things go as smoothly as possible for people and ease their minds,” she says. “Many people are first-time offenders and they don’t know anything about court. They’ve never been inside a courthouse before. They do worry, and it’s our job to make sure that they don’t worry.”
Before joining the Ramsay firm, Arndt worked in similar capacities at two other firms and has now accumulated more than two decades of clerical and administrative experience.
“I love my work,” she says. “You don’t do this for as long as I’ve been doing it if you don’t.”
