Organized, diligent, amiable and interested.
That’s how colleagues describe Becky Braun, who two years ago became office manager at the Children’s Law Center of Minnesota.
“Becky’s work behind the scenes to ensure that all internal systems and processes run smoothly and efficiently allows everyone at CLC to best serve our foster-care child clients,” said Lilia Panteleeva, executive director of the St. Paul-based nonprofit.
“When Becky started with CLC, she amazed everyone with her organizational skills, speed and accuracy,’’ said Panteleeva, who nominated Braun as an Unsung Hero.
Braun’s duties include bookkeeping, acting as receptionist, opening and closing case files and preparing training materials for the center’s volunteer attorneys. And last fall, when the CLC didn’t have a development director, Braun organized its gala fundraiser, which she said generates about 75 percent of the nonprofit’s annual working budget.
“Becky’s continued efforts behind the scenes are the primary reason why CLC can continue to do what we do,” said Eikoku Ikeno, a CLC associate attorney. “Even with her own growing workload, she invariably tries to find ways in which she can lighten everyone else’s load.”
Asked what she likes most about her job, Braun replied, “Knowing that, even if it is in a small way, I am helping the [foster] children.”
