The Advocates for Human Rights is but one of the many who benefited from Arvonne Fraser’s contributions and will miss her. Fraser died Aug. 7 at the age of 92. The Advocates mourned her in a mailing on Wednesday, Aug. 8: “The human rights world has lost a giant. Arvonne Fraser inspired women’s human rights activists across the globe. She encouraged multiple generations of women to find their voices to make their lives better and improve the world. She helped develop international standards for the protection of women and was a tireless advocate herself. In addition to work on international human rights, Arvonne leaves a long legacy in many different arenas, including government, academia, and nonprofit.”
