The Ramsey County Bar Association in March awarded its Distinguished Humanitarian Service Award to Briggs and Morgan attorney Sally Scoggin in recognition of her pro bono service to the community, both in representing clients and serving as a member of organizations dedicated to access to justice issues. Jessie Nicholson, CEO of Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services, who wrote in support of Scoggin’s nomination: “[We] have been honored and fortunate to receive the skilled, committed and reliable pro bono support of Sally Scoggin for almost four decades. It is hard to imagine someone who has provided more steadfast and effective humanitarian service to the citizens of Ramsey County.”

The RCBA gave its Liberty Bell Award to Rowzat Shipchandler, deputy commissioner at the Minnesota Department of Human Rights. The award is for a non-lawyer who promotes a better understanding of the government and encourages respect for courts and the rule of law.
