Minnesota man gets 25 years for fatal shooting of Kelly Phillips

A Minneapolis man was sentenced Tuesday to more than 25 years in prison for fatally shooting his ex-boyfriend and business partner at a gas station last summer before leading police on a monthlong manhunt.

Lyle “Ty” Hoffman, who turned 45 Tuesday, pleaded guilty in January to second-degree intentional murder for killing 48-year-old Kelly Phillips, an attorney for medical device maker Boston Scientific.
