Mike Misterek , who served as campaign manager on Rick Nolan‘s successful congressional bid in the 8th Congressional District, is headed to Washington to work as his chief of staff. Misterek will be charged with overseeing activities in Nolan’s Washington office, as well as field offices in the district.
“Over the past 15 months I have come to know and deeply respect Mike for his extraordinary leadership skills as well as his dedication to the principles that guided our campaign to restore the middle class, solve problems and get things done,” Nolan said in a statement announcing the move. “Now I look forward to working with him to assemble a team of capable, experienced and knowledgeable people to help me get things done in Washington.”
Misterek is a founding partner of Strategic Field Concepts, a consulting firm that has worked on campaigns related to Medicare, telecommunications and charitable gaming. Misterek’s partner in that venture was Corey Day, who is now the executive director of the Minnesota DFL party.
Nolan knocked off first-term GOP Rep. Chip Cravaack by a surprisingly comfortable 9 percentage points in the state’s most closely watched congressional contest.
