With less than 24 hours to go before polls open, the high-profile race for Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District is still too close to call, according to the latest SurveyUSA poll.

The poll, released by KSTP on Sunday, shows DFL candidate Rick Nolan leading Republican incumbent Rep. Chip Cravaack 47 to 45, an edge that falls within the poll’s possible margin of error. That marks the second SurveyUSA poll in a row where Nolan, a former congressman, has a statistically irrelevant lead on Cravaack.

Worth noting:

  • About 8 percent of voters are still undecided heading into election day.
  • Cravaack’s support is flat while  Nolan is up 1 point from the same poll four weeks ago.
  • Nolan has higher “unfavorable” numbers than he had in the last poll.
  • Despite a strong campaign from Cravaack on his support for mining, Nolan is suddenly seen as stronger on mining and economic issues.

The poll surveyed 585 likely voters via phone between Nov. 1 and Nov. 3.

  1. I prefer Rick Nolan, but have never been surveyed. Someone needs to do a Facebook survey – that’s where the activity is this week!

  2. So Rick Nolan leads by 2 points in a KSTP poll? Let me remind you that rich bastard right-wing Stan Hubbard owns KSTP. This is like a Romney-St. Paul version of Fox News running the poll ! Try adding 3 points to Nolan’s numbers to allow for the Hubbard bullshit factor. By the way, don’t even bother reading the Duluth News-Tribune, which is now a pathetic puppet of the right-wing Forum Publications out of North Dakota. THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS IS TO GET OUT THERE AND VOTE!

  3. Final: Nolan 52% Cravaack 47%

I am proud of the Range. We have not forgotten who we are and where we came from. It takes sisu to be a ranger. Congratulations to Rick Nolan.
