A national organization dedicated to electing Democrats to state legislatures has put four Minnesota candidates on its list of 60 races to watch.

DFL state House candidates Zach Dorholt of St. Cloud and Rick Olseen of Harris and Senate DFL candidates Kevin Dahle of Northfield and Melisa Franzen of Edina made the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee’s list of 60 “Essential Races.” All four picks are challengers either running against incumbents or in open seats.

Among the descriptions of the races, the DLCC flags Dahle’s race as a “good test case” for Democrats in conservative-leaning districts who are trying to return to the Legislature after being defeated in the 2010 GOP wave. For the full list, click here.
