Super PAC backs Hegseth in Klobuchar challenge

Republican Pete Hegseth has a new ally in its bid to win the Minnesota GOP’s nomination and take on DFL Sen. Amy Klobuchar in November’s election.
Hegseth on Tuesday gained the backing of a Washington-based Super PAC named “Reclaiming Freedom,” an organization that’s committed itself to unseating Senate Democrats as Republicans look to take over the U.S. Senate this fall.
Politico reports the group with target just three to five races, with the Klobuchar challenge among them. Politico also reports it’s backing Nevada Republican Sen. Dean Heller in his re-election campaign.
The group’s founder is Washington-based PR professional Brian Wise, who previously worked with Vets for Freedom, a group Hegseth was involved with at one time as well. Politico says the group will look to bring $10 million to its efforts, but has not disclosed its targeted donor base yet.
