In 2010 Republicans often touted the recruitment of Securian executive Pat Mazorol as evidence of the strength of their recruiting class. But after just one term in the House, Mazorol is not running for re-election.
“Just responsibilities outside of here are growing and growing and growing,” Mazorol said, in explaining his decision.
That leaves an open seat in a competitive district that includes parts of Bloomington, Minnetonka and Edina. Former DFL state Rep. Paul Rosenthal, who lost to Mazorol by roughly 900 votes in 2010, has indicated that he will run again. No Republican has filed for the seat.
