Sen. Amy Klobuchar is the target of a new television commercial produced by a pair of civil liberties groups. Demand Progress and Fight for the Future are criticizing the first-term DFLer for introducing legislation that would make streaming unlicensed content online a felony.
The commercial highlights comments made by pop star Justin Bieber, who suggested that Klobuchar should be “put away in cuffs” for backing the bill. Viewers are directed to a web site, bieberisright.com, and asked to sign a petition opposing the legislation.
The civil liberties groups claim that the ad will air on cable news networks and Comedy Central in the Twin Cities market through this week. Here’s the commercial:
