Bill O’Brien of Miller O’Brien Cummins PLLP has been named by Best Lawyers as the Minneapolis Lawyer of the Year in the Employment Law — Individuals category for 2012. Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is being honored as the Lawyer of the Year. Best Lawyers conducts peer-review surveys in which lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers. Those being honored as Lawyer of the Year have received particularly high survey ratings for their abilities, professionalism and integrity.
Moore, Costello & Hart is pleased to announce that Andrew D. Moran has joined the firm. He is a graduate of the William Mitchell College of Law. He will practice in the firm’s St. Paul office.
Best & Flanagan LLP is pleased to announce that Leonard M. Fineday and John T. Sullivan have joined the firm as associate attorneys. Fineday will practice in the Native American Law and Business Law sections, and Sullivan will practice in the firm’s Litigation and Employment & Labor Law groups.
Fineday is a member of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe. He brings experience with tribal and municipal governments, including terms as the executive director of the Leech Lake Band, as an elected member of the Cass Lake City Council, and as director of human services for the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe, where he oversaw human services programs on six Minnesota reservations.
Fineday graduated from Bethel University in Arden Hills in 2006 with a B.A. in political science and earned his law degree from Marquette University Law School in Milwaukee.
Sullivan served as law clerk to Associate Justice G. Barry Anderson of the Minnesota Supreme Court before joining the firm. He earned his law degree magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School.
Before becoming a lawyer, Sullivan worked for 13 years as a journalist, including as a reporter for The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead, as a correspondent for the Associated Press in Fargo, for the Associated Press in Washington, D.C., and at the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
