Former Iron Range state Sen. George Perpich was among the hosts last night at a fundraiser for DFL Congressional candidate Rick Nolan. The Minnesota Progressive Project blog posted the invite.
Perpich is the latest DFL luminary to appear in support of Nolan, who is running as a DFLer seeking to unseat U.S. Rep. Chip Cravaack in Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District.
Nolan, a former Congressman, is running in a DFL field that includes former state Sen. Tarryl Clark and Duluth City Council member Jeff Anderson.
Former Rep. Joe Begich from Eveleth and Chisholm Free Press founder Veda Ponkivar announced their support for Nolan earlier this week.
Perpich, a brother of former Gov. Rudy Perpich, and Virginia labor leader Tom Dwyer co-hosted the fundraiser at the Northeast Minneapolis home of Devin Rice.
The fundraiser also featured former Congressmen Martin Sabo and Bill Luther. The invite also mentioned prominent DFLers Harry Sieben, Paul Rexford Thatcher, Andy Kozak, Bill Sieben, David Lebedoff, John Derus, Ray Bohn and Mike Sieben.
