Affordable Half-Day CLE Program with Ethics Credit

On April 27th, the Minnesota State Bar Association Sections and Committees are hosting the second annual “Just the Essentials for New Lawyers” CLE Program.  This program features three one-hour segments containing essential information, tips and techniques to immediately improve your practice. Prior to the CLE, join us for breakfast and an opportunity to network with your colleagues from the MSBA’s 36 Sections and 26 Committees.

The cost of the CLE is $20 for MSBA members and $30 for non-members.  PLUS – All Attendees will be able to apply their registration payment to an MSBA program or service (MSBA membership, Section membership, mndocs, mnfindalawyer, etc.)

8:00 a.m. | Do’s and Don’ts from the Bench
Join Judges Jay Quam and Sharon Hall for a conversation about how to effectively navigate the courtroom. The judges and their clerks will share the do’s and don’ts every lawyer should be aware of when in court. Learn from the successes and mistakes of others before your next filing or hearing.

9:00 a.m. | Cocktail Law: Answers to Questions Lawyers are Asked at Social Events
Tired of being approached by your family and friends with endless legal questions? Panelists Dan McGrath, Wendy Brekken, Jeff DeGree, Greg Luce and Zak Kretchmer will share suggested answers to the criminal, civil, family, estate/wills, housing and other questions you receive as a lawyer at social events. Don’t miss this entertaining and educational panel discussion!

10:00 a.m. | Difficult Situations, Difficult Clients (Ethics Credit Applied For)
All lawyers encounter difficult situations and clients in everyday practice. These situations can cause risk for complaints and malpractice. Representatives from Minnesota Lawyers Mutual Member Services Department will walk through actual scenarios they’ve helped attorneys with and provide advice for avoiding complaints and malpractice in these difficult situations.
