Republican Sen. Michael Jungbauer was released from Regions Hospital Thursday after being hit by a car a day earlier while jogging.

Jungbauer, a three-term legislator from East Bethel, was admitted to Regions Hospital on Wednesday with a probable concussion. He stayed overnight for observation and was released at 4 p.m. today. He suffered a head injury, according to a statement released by Senate Republicans.

“I was ending mile 11 and making excellent time,” Jungbauer said in the statement. “I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers, not only for me but for my whole family during this past week. It has been a difficult week.”

Jungbauer’s father passed away last week. The funeral was held Monday. Jungbauer added that he’s unsure when he will be able to return to the Capitol.

“I’ve had a doozie of a headache today, and just need some time at home with my family for the next few days,” he wrote.
