Former state Rep. Laura Brod has joined the law firm of Lockridge Grindal Nauen as a “senior strategic advisor” focusing on business development and government affairs. The New Prague Republican served four terms in the House, but decided not to run for re-election last year.

Last month Brod was appointed by a joint meeting of the House and Senate to a six-year term as an at-large representative on the University of Minnesota Board of Regents. She has frequently been mentioned as a potential candidate for statewide office, but has denied interest in challenging U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar in 2012.

“We have a terrific lobbying team, and while Laura will not do any lobbying herself, I’m thrilled to have her affiliated with our firm,” said Ted Grindal, a partner in the firm, in a statement. “Laura will be a key player in building and strengthening our government relations practice and really all areas of our firm, to be best positioned for new business development opportunities.”
