Izaak Walton’s Grant picked to lead energy office

Bill Grant has been named as the director of the energy office in the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
Grant, who has been mentioned as a candidate for the position since Dayton began his transition into office, reports to work on February 7.
Grant has worked at the Izaak Walton League since 1992. He’s been the conservation group’s associate executive director since 2002. Before joining the League, Grant spent seven years analyzing utilities for the Minnesota Department of Public Service.
He has been an ever-present advocate on energy issues at the Capitol. He served on the Minnesota Climate Change Advisory Group that recommended to Gov. Tim Pawlenty ways to meet state greenhouse gas reduction goals.
