Sara Grewing has been named St. Paul City Attorney. Since 2007, Grewing has served as chief of staff for St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman.
“During her time in my office, she has proven herself to be an outstanding manager and advisor — traits that will serve our city well as she sets out on this new challenge,” Coleman said in a statement announcing the appointment. “Sara’s experience and judgment made her the clear choice to lead one of the most critical departments in the City.”
Grewing replaces John Choi, who stepped down in April in order to run for Ramsey County Attorney. Her resume also includes stints as a lobbyist for the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities and as a prosecutor in the Hennepin County Attorney’s office. (Read Charley Shaw’s 2007 profile of her here.) There was no immediate word from Coleman’s office on who will replace her as chief of staff.
